Dante alighieri was born in florence in may 1265. His mother died and his father remarried and had two more kids. His family linage was noble but at this point of time it was only translated to modest economic and social circumstance. Dante"s family was af liated with the guelf party. Dante may have attend the franciscan lower school and then schools of philosophy. Writing shows he is familiar with city and farm life. A friendship with poet guido cavalcanti in uenced his early poetry. Dante"s father passed and dante married around the same time. Had two sons and at least one daughter. Dante re ned and developed his poetic skills in latin. Presented his ideas on the nature of love and its ability to contribute to the inner perfection of man. Favored the study and emulation o the latin poets. Shown by a shift to composition in the vernacular.
