It is believed that stella is based off of penelope devereux: they spoke of marriage but were married to other people. Puns seem to be made of lord robert rich, who devereux married. Though sydney uses outdated method he manages to make these conventions his own. Stella might take pleasure in his pain for love. Her curiosity of his pain might make her read: give her knowledge. His pity for him might make her love him. His love was giving his writers block: his muse told him to write what was in his heart. Inward reason is heavenly: should be more important than outward beauty. True beauty is a virtue: those who ght it are looking for their own pain.
