Reaction time (rt): a measure of the time elapsed between some stimulus and the person"s response to the stimulus. Memory and cognition can be understood as a sequence of independent processing stages. Mental processes can be divided into individual steps. How each step is performed, and how fast, is not. In each step the information is worked on in some way a model of the specific mental precesses that take place when a particlar task is performed.
