Document Summary
Catiline killed his own son because he saw him as a threat to his marriage. He looked terrible and was restless all the time. Catiline taught his students how to commit crimes. With pompey a(cid:449)a(cid:455) a(cid:374)d (cid:373)a(cid:374)(cid:455) of ulla"s veterans bankrupt, catiline saw rome as begging for a civil war. The senate did not know of catili(cid:374)e"s pla(cid:374)s (cid:374)o(cid:396) did they know about his criminal activity. He met with many senators in hopes of starting this revolution. Crassus might have been at the meeting but that was unknown. This was not the first time catiline had planned an overthrow of rome. Autronius and publius sulla, both consuls were punished due to electoral punishment. Catiline could not run for the vacant seat because he was on trial for extortion. Catiline and autronius planned to assassinate the new consul lucius torquatus. Gnaeus piso was then supposed to occupy spain. Crassus sent piso to spain since he was an enemy of pompey.
