Other agents of socialization: schools, peer groups, organizations, the media, and the workplace. In modern families, most early socialization occurs in small-scale family context. Major source of socialization from infancy to adolescence and beyond. Families have varying locations within the overall institutions of a society. In modern societies, social position is not inherited at birth; the region and social class of the family do have a distant e ect on patterns of socialization.
