Amount of energy associated with the movement of atoms and molecules in a body of matter . Reflects the average speed of movement of the atoms and molecules in a body of matter: entropy, a measure of disorder one form of disorder is heat, heat engine. Normally heat is the end-product of the flow/transformation of energy heat usually regarded as waste: as useless end result. Sometimes heat is what we want, though hot water, cooking, space heating.
