Document Summary

Physical and cognitive development in early childhood chapter 3. The most notable visual changes are in the first year of life. Do not compare millstones of one child to another. Each child will be unique in some way. In early childhood they slim down and legs and arms grow. They gain about 4 lbs per year and about 3 inches in height. At 6 yrs the average child is between 4050 lbs and 3 feet tall. From about age 2-6 years they experience rigidity or just right where a child decides they like something a very certain way. Drinking more than one soda per day raises the risk that acids found in many soft or energy drinks will eat away at tooth enamel. What matters most about motor skills is maturation and practice. The prefrontal cortices are developing and they are unable to gauge risks. High levels of pollution can increase asthma rates and lung damage.
