Discuss why it is important to consider your audience when developing and producing your speech. Make sure topic is suitable for audience. People involved in interactions interpret events differently depending on their frame of reference: composed of personal experiences, goals, values, attitudes, knowledge, beliefs, age, gender, culture, etc. Audience demographics - what is the general make-up of your audience: age, sex, gender, sexual orientation, cultural background, income, occupation, education, religion, group membership, political affiliation, place of residence. List six factors to consider when analyzing the speaking situation. Then, note information to consider for each factor. Trying to enrich their knowledge and experience; avoid presenting info that is too general, too specific, or too complex: attitudes describe how your audience feels about your topic. Beliefs are statements that your audience holds to be true. Values are the extent to which audience members attach importance or worth to those beliefs.
