BUS-A 201 Chapter Notes - Chapter 6: Firstline, Swot Analysis
Document Summary
Managers - the people who plan, organize, lead, and control the operations of an organization. Management - the process of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling a business"s financial, physical, human, and information resources in order to achieve its goals. Planning - that portion of a manager"s job concerned with determining what the business needs to do and the best way to achieve it. A commercial airline, for example, may set a goal to fill 90 percent of the seats on each flight. Managers identify whether a gap exists between the company"s desired and actual position. For example, the airline may analyze load data and find that only 73% of the seats in the average flight are filled. Managers develop plans to achieve the desired objectives. For example, the airline may reduce fares on heavily travelled routes in order to increase the percentage of the seats that are filled. The plans that have been decided upon are implemented.
