The psychological aspects of diabetes have long been ignored. Stress, anxiety and even depression are disorders that have a higher incidence in the part of the population that has this disease. However, for a few years now, thanks to a multidisciplinary approach to intervention, greater emphasis has been placed on these factors, which are so relevant in the life of the patient. This set of metabolic disorders that mediate diabetes mellitus completely alter a person"s day-to- day. Thus, a fact that is sometimes neglected is the close relationship between type 1 and type 2 diabetes with mental health problems. It is estimated that almost 50% of people with this disease will suffer from a psychological disorder at some point. Furthermore, the probability of suffering depression, according to various studies, is doubled in these patients. There is evidence that the risk of depression is increased directly in diabetic patients. The psychological aspects are there; they are evident and cannot be neglected.
