Document Summary

. bacteria is considered a prokaryote because they lack a nucleus. the bacterial nucleus is known as a nucleoid. One of the smallest diverse forms of life that we know about. Their framework isn"t as elaborate as those of eukaryotic cells. The cytoplasm in bacterial cells contain ribosomes and some organisms" cytoplasms contain plasmids. Ribosomes are the organelle of protein synthesis. Plasmid s are a small circle of dna in some bacteria and archaea. Nucleoid is the region of cytoplasm where the dna is concentrated. Cell wall is the rigid yet permeable structure that surrounds the plasma membrane of certain cells. Prokaryotes usually have either one or more flagella. A community of single-celled organisms living within a shared mass of slime is called a biofilm . There is a second membrane that surrounds the cell wall of bacteria. Organisms that have the second membrane that surrounds its cell wall are called gram-negative bacteria.
