Pr ethics & law: a pr professional and a lawyer"s jobs are different, but similar. Obviously, a lawyer handles the legal side of things. Unlike pr professionals, they want to say as little about the situation as possible. They use the words no comment, to help avoid the legal risks. But a pr professional is going to tell the full story 100% truthfully. They balance both the organization and the public"s interests while the lawyer really only cares about his client: it is pretty simple for someone to prove they have been slandered. The example you used in class was very good. A facebook friend of yours posted something negative about his baby mama. In that case, it was very easy to tell the man was slandering the woman. His ex-girlfriend could have sued him for slander. However, when a public figure is involved, it is a lot different.
