Document Summary

I learned from reading chapter five that mexicans, puerto ricans, and the cubans represent the largest group of hispanic americans in the united states. What i found most interesting and inspiring was the story of sonia sotomayor. First, it was very inspiring to hear a positive story about a non-dominant person (both in terms of sex and color) and about the successes she has experienced. It is incredible that she was able to receive the ivy league education that she did and was able to do something meaningful with it. I can only imagine how inspirational sonia must be to the hispanic population out there. Another aspect of this story which intrigued me was the different decisions that are made between male and female and white and minority judges.
