Biocultural approach- a perspective that looks at the interaction between biology and culture. Holistic- refers to the fact that there are many different aspects that contribute to what makes a human, human- look at many different aspects emotionally, behaviorally. Comparative (cross culture) - we look at different cultures and draw different comparisons. Ethnocentric- a belief in the inherit superiority of ones own ethic group or culture. Culture relativism- every culture has merit within its own context. Have to take the view that their culture is valuable. Spending time in laboratory, library"s, and also all the going to different places. Four subfields- linguistic, arachnology, culture/social culture, biological or physical. Linguistic anthropology- the behavioral component: your gender and ethnicity can impact how you use language, you talk to certain things and people differently, there is a society way of how to talk to certain people. Archaeology- the study of the past based on the material remains of a culture.
