In intro to theatre, we study the how and why of theatre and theatre production. In this section we will cover a range of topics related to theatre, its history, its art, and its production. In each of those we will work to answer questions such how is theatre a unique art form? . Why do people do theatre? how has theatre impacted human development? and how does theatre happen? . General education statement: this course can be used to satisfy the general education arts. The goals of general education arts courses include developing an informed appreciation of the roles of the arts and humanities and an understanding of other cultures and times. Basic premise of the course: thtr 1020 understands theatre as a performance event that communicates to its audience through the medium of the stage. It is a visual, verbal, and aural art form experienced in live performance.
