Inheritance of acquired characteristics: these modifications are inherited by the offspring. Lamarck"s ideas turn out to be very wrong. He thought that the used parts of the body would. Lamarck had studied giraffes the modern day giraffe"s ancestor was smaller and shorter. get bigger and stronger while the less used part would get smaller and weaker. And those characteristics get passed to the offspring. Lamarck believed that they would spend time stretching their neck and legs then those traits will be passed down to the modern giraffe.
