Phylogeny is the evolutionary history of a species or group of related species. Systematics is an analytical approach to understanding the diversity and relationships of. Taxonomy is the ordered division of organisms into categories based on a set of characteristics used to assess similarities and differences. Carolus linnaeus left us a system for naming living things. There is a two-part format of the scientific name of an organism. The binomial name consists of the: genus and species, they are always written in a different font (italics) so that it would stand out in text, the genus is always capitalized; species is always lowercased e. g: homo sapiens. Scientific names clears up the problem of different naming system in the world. Linnaeus also introduced the system of grouping species increasing broad categories.
