Document Summary

Reason the valves are closed is bc atrial pressure < ventricular pressure < aortic pres. Atria have more blood, av valves are open process of filling up the ventricles. End of phase 1, atria start to contract. Purpose of atrial contraction is to keep the av valves open. Based on that, looking at the pressure, atrial pressure increases right here, bc its contracting and ventrical pressure increases, bc more blood is in them. All valves are closed, and ventricles begin to contract. Where blood leaves the ventricles and enters the arteries. Ventricles have just contracted, and are beginning to relax. Pressure in ventricles is lower than that of the aorta but still higher than atrial pressure.
