Parasite- organism that lives in /on another one for long period of time. Symbiosis- two organisms living together in close association for long period of time. Commensalism- one benefits and the other not bothered. Parasitism- one benefits and the other is harmed. Lesions may be from mechanism to get rid of parasite. Innate- does not require prior exposure to a specific substance. Have to come in contact with substance and develop the defense against it. First line- physical barrier to ability of parasite to invade host. Third line- specific and acquired (prior exposure required). Tightly attached to each other so nothing can get through. Skin cells on surface have no organelles and have waterproof keratin. Cause skin has no dna anymore at surface. Fluid part- contains dissolved substances such as protein, hormones, nutrients, gases (o2, Natural killer cells- can"t differentiate between this and lymphocyte by sight. Granules contain hydrolytic enzymes to destroy what they engulf by phagocytosis.
