Arena: theater in the round , audience sits on all sides of the stage, no big set pieces because don"t want to block one side completely, more natural way of behaving with each other, difficult to change furniture. Thrust: marriage between proscenium and arena, audience on three sides; have backstage, more natural actor movement. Black box: open space; can make it into any type of space you want, interior is completely black, reconfigure seats how ever you want, almost all stage. Realism: surface details, with electricity, you could now see everything, so the scene had to look great, representational, supposed to look realistic of society, a mirror of life.
