Document Summary
I was raised with a loving and consensual family identity. My parents have always been very open to new ideals without judgement but still set clear rules with consequences. My parents raised me with the expectation that everyone would be treated with respect, no matter any personal differences. My parents always gave us the freedom to form our own opinions but since we were raised with consequences for bad behavior, we all have similar morals. As a family we have been with eachother through it all. The two things that influence the family identity for us would be family myths and family stories. Family myths are used to tell the beliefs and values that a family holds and considers to be important. This was shown in my family when my young cousin passed away in 2012. The funeral was very awkward for me since it was the first one i had attended.
