CMST 2010 Chapter : Chapter 3 Journal Entry
Document Summary
One characteristic that displays a great deal of both my "public self" and my "inner self" would be selflessness. My actions towards others are taken into account before they are displayed, most of the time, because i was raised to put others before myself. My family, especially my mother, is extremely religious. This resulted in my mother twisting the frequent phrase used: "treat others the way you would want to be treated," into. "put others before yourself; that"s what jesus did for you. " Growing up, i didn"t always receive praise for my acts of selflessness, but i was taught to do it simply for the well-being of others, not for anything-recognition or reward-in return. Obviously, my child"s version of this was more along the lines of, "i should share my pb&j with the little girl who doesn"t have any lunch because that"s way easier than what jesus did-death. "
