It explains that while most can lie seamlessly, there are a few people that tend to give themselves away when being deceptive. The leakage hypothesis is an extension of the myth that our nonverbal cues reveal what is truly inside us and are thus more diagnostically accurate information regarding whether we are telling the truth.
