ECON 2000 Chapter : Racism Is Merely A Scapegoat Directed Towards The Melanin Spread Throughout One
Document Summary
Racism is merely a scapegoat directed towards the melanin spread throughout one"s genetic pigment; the real issue is classicism and the illusion behind the american dream of the middle-class. Much like the differentiation between new and old wealth, the american dream is a subjective matter treated objectively with the achievement of middle-class status. However, this has been defined by the obscured lines between the intimately oppressed being able to support themselves and the well-to-do"s possibility of altering the socioeconomic sanctity of others for their own gain. Dutchman begins focused on a well-to-do, middle class african american taking a train home from a day of corporate share cropping only to find a beautiful caucasian woman checking out his goods. Soon enough clay and the girl (lula, who walks in eating an apple1) are networking flirtatiously after she accuses him of staring at her lower back. Lula uses stereotypes to guess clay"s background and begins to try and manipulate him.
