Mike vaughn served in the united states navy for over twenty years before he went to school to become a high school calculus teacher. His determination to share his knowledge and to have his students succeed is evident by the passion he puts into his teaching. His humor, which comes out while he is giving a lecture, makes class riveting and gives his students a sense of familiarity with him as a person. He is a born leader, which is what turned him to the military, but i strongly believe his experiences helped shape him into the amazing teacher he is. Characteristics of good teachers include patience, curiosity, determination, a sense of humility, and a willingness to keep learning; all of which we are either born with, or learn at a very young age. Many teachers have a way of calming stressed students or a bad situation, which is something they ve been able to do their whole lives.
