In most disciplines and professions, you"ll need to convey facts, ideas, opinions, and recommendations using clear, coherent prose. This course is designed to develop the skills you"ll need to write compellingly at lsu and beyond. By writing often, you"ll become familiar and comfortable with your own writing process. You"ll learn how to prewrite, draft, and revise, both alone and with peers; to make complex, well-supported arguments; and to develop your own writer"s voice. While our readings and discussions will help you to sharpen your critical eye, the class"s many writing opportunities will allow you to explore and share ideas while developing your writing skills. Your grade will be calculated based on the following percentages. (see p. 5 for the grading scale. )
