After school employment is suggested to be the cause. On a regular school day about 55 percent of 12th graders work at least 3 or more hours a day. After school employment can be improved by either cutting hours, limiting work to weekends, or making jobs that contribute more to learning. Jobs for teens in school have many negative effects such as lower grades, frequent absentees, use of drugs and alcohol, easier workloads. Occur when teen students work more than 15 hours a week. Jobs aren"t all bad, some studies point towards improved learning in students who work less than 15 hours a week. Student"s jobs may even steel time from unconstructive past times and may be somewhat helpful. Teenage work can teach responsibility, punctuality, independence, and confidence and may even explain the productiveness of americans.
