Document Summary
Beloved is a wonderful novel filled with supernatural tales of slavery, freedom. Fear of abandonment in the beloved and happiness, which encompass the walls of 124 bluestone road. Many if not all the characters in this novel can undergo psychoanalysis, but one that i find fitting the fear of abandonment is the baby ghost/beloved herself. This baby ghost doesn"t want her family to ever desert her, which is why she refuses to leave and spiritually lives alongside the rest of her family. In psychoanalysis the fear of abandonment is the unshakable belief that our friends and loved ones are going to desert us, or don"t really care about us (tyson 16). From the first few pages of this book we witness the apparition of this baby haunting the walls of the house, refusing to leave until she comes in the form of a human figure beloved.
