Document Summary

Technically refers to everything from sets to camera movement to cinematography. Short hand to identify the material elements of a frame (lighting, costumes, sets, acting, etc. ). Location-a real place that the director chose to film, as opposed to a set that is created. Shot-basic element of film making; a piece of film run through the camera, exposed, and developed, an uninterrupted run of the camera. Telephoto lens-a lens that greatly magnifies an object, similar to a telescope. Close-up-a shot that isolates an object in the image, making it appear relatively large. Extreme close-up-any element isolated at very close range in the shot. Extreme long shot-taken from a great distance, includes much of the surrounding area and background. Eye-level shot-places the camera at the level of the character"s eyes. Low angle shot-the camera is looking up at the subject. High angle shot-camera is looking down at the subject, shows weakness. Dutch tilt (canted angle)-camera tilts horizontally and/or vertically.
