They end up adopting the same sort of writing style, build with the same material, many. Mesopotamia had no natural protection to protect from outsiders, meaning lots of outsiders come in and attack: sumerians each city had their own city-state government. These huge cities were built with mud bricks and placed close to the river for irrigation purposes. Palace of the king and the temple of the gods were surviving buildings that historians collect much data from. The ziggurats (made of mud brick) were created as temples dedicated to the gods. Each city had their own ruler: gilgamesh and enkidu showed that all people no matter what (kings) were here to serve god, akkadians settled mostly from the north. They were the first of the conquering people to come in to mesopotamia. There was one king who ruled over these conquered cities.
