Catalog description of course: principal themes of human geography, including the spatial distributions and interactions of culture, history, economy, population, and environment, with a regional emphasis on europe and the americas. This course introduces the geographic study of our world: its cultures and regions; their similarities and differences. As we begin the twenty-first century, the world we all share seems to become smaller every day. While the places in our world are in many critical ways both interconnected and interdependent, they simultaneously maintain their uniqueness. In this course we will explore europe and the americas, examining how places as large as continents or as small as villages are both locally and globally constructed.
