Document Summary

The promise of the sociological imagination: use examples to explain what mills means by "the sociological imagination. , i think mills uses the phrase the sociological imagination to explain our reasoning in our human brain. Mills says neither the life of an individual nor the history of a society can be understood and i think our imagination makes connections between the two. The imagination an individual has for himself is how far they can stretch the limits of human nature. People evolve generation and generation but that does not mean we need to ignore our mistakes and failures in order to create new ones. Mills talks about self-consciousness and how imaginations relates to your self-knowledge. You could be having trouble with your family, grades, appearance, etc. and the world would have no idea. I think issues are more social knowledge everyone may not know every detail to global warming but they still know it exists and needs to be fixed.
