Cronon writes his theory in his novel, that though the europeans made many changes in order to accustom their lifestyle, the indians had done this same thing long before the europeans arrived and the land was not supposedly bear . He writes, not all the environmental changes which took place after european settlement were caused by it. Some were part of much longer trends, and some were random: neither type need have had anything to do with the europeans. (cronon 9). In this quote cronon is referring to the changes of new.
