Sarajevo (the captial of bosnia annexed by austro-hungary). -austrohungary was outraged, blamed serbia, and took this as an opportunity to gain power over serbia and crush its nationalist movement. On july 23, 1914 austrohungary issued provocative demands (remove ah propaganda from textbooks, remove certain military leaders from ah rank, etc. ) with the hopes of creating war. -serbia is coaxed by france and russia to accept demands and avoid war.
