Japan invaded china and indochina, america"s biggest buyer, so in an effort to control japan, america cut japan off from receiving aid and froze their assets. Japan was angry about this and planned an attack on pearl harbor. Sunday, close to christmas, japan bombed pearl harbor and next day u. s. declared war on. Though japan didn"t expect the u. s. to declare war, they thought the u. s. was going to call a meeting to come to an agreement because they did not understand american mentality of.
