The revolt against modernity: many people did not like how the country was changing because they felt like it was taking us in the wrong direction, nothing they could really do to stop this change. They tried to attack the problems but not really what caused these problems. Nativism ideas that are out of the mainstream ideas: saw these as un-american ideologies, events like the palmer race were events that showed anti radicalism, fear of different religions- always been this fear of anti semitism. This fear: native born americans that should be the dominant group in the united. Don"t want couldn"t be good americans since their allegiance is to the pope and: the klan becomes national in the 1920"s and its strong hold is in the west. Reaches 4 million in numbers in the 1920"s. Which is a good size: ku klux klan- made attacks on radicals.
