This paper is written from the point of view of a person was formally in the military and understands how training and being in a combat zone can effect how one views the enemy. Even though the book entitled war without mercy: race and power in the pacific war does not just focus on just the military personnel side but also on the side of the people at home. Propaganda plays a big roll in how people perceive the enemy at home. As far as the troops in the field go propaganda does not play as big a roll for them but an active combat zone does play a huge roll in the mental make up of the troops.
