Number of hours worked is less, but people are making more. This allows more to be spent on leisure activities and items to make their lives easier. The industry during the war was booming and after the war they switch over to the consumer goods: automobiles the center of the 1920"s economy. The technique of mass production spreads to other industries. These gave people the ability to not be tied down to the city which they live. This gives them the ability to live in suburbs. This is where wealthy people lived to get out of the city, but still be able to commute: henry ford founder of ford motor company. He mastered mass production and made a car that everyone could afford.
