Document Summary

Case 1: to bribe or not to bribe, that is the question. In my opinion, if tom accepts the fishing trip, he isn"t accepting a bribe. The case states that tom had purchased a large number of valves before the salesman invited him on a fishing trip. That is how businessmen work; they get to know their customers. Inviting tom on a fishing trip gives the salesman a better opportunity to continue doing business, and it gives. It is ideal to have a casual relationship with the person you plan on doing long-term business with. I would consider the salesman"s offer a bribe if tom hadn"t already bought the valves. If there were other competitors and tom was trying to decide whom to buy valves from, i would consider a fishing trip a bribe. Since the recruiter already spoke to their supervisor, it is okay to keep your mouth shut.
