Solution: asvamedha (year long horse sacrifice ritual) a divine messenger appears from one of the fires and gives a drink of dasaratha"s wives and then he has four sons (one of which is rama (vishnu)) Heavenly plane: ravana (basically same story as darth vader) Solution: find a mortal who can kill him, gods go to brahma (creator of the universe) and ask for help. Vishnu shows up as rama (son of dasaratha) Avatara: an instance in which one deity comes down from heavenly realm into earthly realm in some form for a purpose. 1. - vishvamitra: here to be rama"s guru; has experiential knowledge (vishnu needs a guru because he doesn"t remember who he is)
