Posterior pituitary gland: oxytocin- contraction of uterus during childbirth and contraction of mammary glands to get milk, adh- conserve body water by not letting you sweat, decreasing urine volume and vasoconstriction of blood vessels. Thyroid gland secreted from follicular and parafollicular cells: t3- also synthesis of proteins and fluid balance. T4- both stimulate oxygen and basal metabolic rate, cellular metabolism and growth and development. Parathyroid- secreted from chief cells: pth- increase calcium and magnesium level in blood also calitrol which is the active form of vitamin d. Adrenal gland: medulla produces epinephrine and norepinephrine which simulatges fight or flight response. Pancreas- composed of prancreatic islets each containing four types of cells.
