The human race is the only set of animals that looks for explanations. Greek myths are from around 1200bc and were used to explain different experienced events. Myths were used until rational, logical thoughts were created. Function of myths is to illustrate the truth about human nature. Function is also to make some sense out of human experience. German who studied ancient myths around 1900 and concluded that all ancient myths are actually about nature. Swiss psychologist who was fascinated by the fact that the same stories turned up in the same cultures ( ex: flood stories) Collective unconscious- group of ideas that all humans are born with in their brains that they aren"t aware of. Helped primitive people make sense of their world and ideas. French anthropologist who did research on human brain. English man who went to south america and saw plants and animals which he developed evolution theory.
