Proximity: related items should be grouped closely together, when items are close, they become one visual unit = easier to read, purpose is to organize and make things more visually appealing. Emphasis: used to catch the viewer"s attention, should be based on a visual hierarchy, use size, scale, color, type, etc. for emphasis. Repetition: repeat some aspects of the design throughout the entire piece, unifies and strengthens the piece by tying together separate parts, purpose is to organize, unify and add visual interest.
