Document Summary

Lab-2 & 3: mechanical testing impact, hardness, and tensile. This report contains the process and conclusions of a laboratory experiment performed to determine the hardness, toughness, and stress-strength behavior of different mechanical materials. These experiments replicate, as nearly as practical, the service conditions. Rockwell macro-hardness testing was used to determine the hardness of the three different materials in various conditions: both stainless steel and aluminum specimens at room temperature & cold temperature, and brass specimen at room temperature. These same samples, except brass sample, were used to determine toughness in charpy impact. Cylindrical specimen of aluminum and steel-1020 were used during tensile. The experimental results were used in combination with the rockwell hardness. Scale and expressions for engineering stress & strain to get the final results. In addition, suspected data-points were eliminated using chauvenet"s criterion in order to achieve more accurate results. As a conclusion, the result of the experiment showed that the.
