Document Summary
Primary sexual organ: testes: makes male gamete, makes testosterone. Miles of seminiferous tubing in the testes: sperm is made in the tubules, first cells are made in outer basic membrane, myosis. Lighted cells make testosterone: some drained into blood, most is sent into the seminiferous tubing. Sertoli cells: nurse cells: responsible for developing the germ cells inside of the seminiferous tubing into more mature sperm cells. Testes hang so far down ( pendulum testes) because sperm production can only occur a few degrees below a bull"s normal body temperature. All sperm go through epididymus: partially for storage, convoluted single tube, top: head; bottom: tail, gain motility (thus fertility) in the epididymus, organ of maturation, tube gets larger at the end. Ampulla on both sides of vas deferens are major sites of storage for sperm. Lots of fluid comes from the prostate, bulbourethral, and vascular glands: mixes with these fluids to push semen out, provide nutrients, proteins, and sugars.
