Document Summary

Tides are the periodic raising and lowering of sea level that occurs daily, isaac newton law of gravity explains. Earth and moon revolve around barycenter 1000 miles within earth. Earth-moon system movement is like a sledge hammer being flung. Gravitational force every object with mass attracted to another object, force directly proportional to bodies. Distance is greatly affected more than mass, if distance increases, gravity greatly decreases. Greater the mass and the closer together = greater gravity. Zenith is where gravity is closest to the moon, bulges on the side of earth directed toward moon, gravity force is greater than the centripetal force. nadir is where it is furthest, away from moon, centripetal greater than gravitational. Centripital force is what holds together, pull towards center of objects, will fly off in straight line. Resultant forces are the mathematical differences between required centripetal and supplied gravitational forces, significance of these forces is very small.
