Some argue constitutions are established by force, not common good, 3 just forms of government: monarch- single ruler acts for good of all, hereditary, conquest, aristocracy- rule by few, of virtue not based on wealth, most excellent of character, virtue, land ownership. Polity=democracy, vulnerable to demagogue, gets elected by promising the masses their heart"s desire bribery, hard to overthrow, people are corrupt. In theory monarchy is the best, king must be just, easiest to corrupt, also tyrant is the worst. In practical polity is the best, harder to corrupt. Provisions must be made in case one starts leaning towards tyrant, fear keeps tyrants alive. Just=wisdom, temperance, justice, fortitude=shows excellence, king wants friendship with subjects: accept-unjust.
