PSYC 2000 Chapter : Learning Word Doc
Document Summary
Learning-is any relatively permeant change in behavior brought about by experience or practice. Behaviorist perspective-measurement of that behavior is what is important. Associative learning-throughout our life we learn to associate things with each other, has to do with statistical regularities, our minds are in tune to relate things that occur closely together. Gestalt contiguity idea-things that occur close in time are grouped together. When one even precedes another we learn to associate one event with the other. Learning things that go together is very adaptive. Classical conditioning-one of the basic mechanisms of learning and is preserved even in invertebrates there is evidence. Ex: pavlov"s dogs: the presence of food for the dogs creates salvation, no leaning needs to occur for a dog to drool. Cr-conditioned response, learned (not as strong as ucr) While tune is played presenting dog with food dog begins to salivate.
