Anxiety disorders: defined by excessive or unrealistic worry and fearfulness, phobias, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder. Generalized anxiety disorder: excessive anxieties and worries about a number of events/activities that occurs more days than not for at least 6 months, can also have physical symptoms (tension, restlessness, fatigue, sleep problems) Asd last for more than one month: symptoms: intrusions, avoidance, negative changes in cognition or emotion, changes in arousal/reactivity. Irrational thinking (cognitive: magnification: the tendency to interpret situations as far more dangerous, harmful, or important that it actually is. Ex of normal sadness: being sad over someone"s death ex of depression: has to be persistent with number of symptoms.
