Portfolio assignment #1: my role as a counselor, i. I believe that my personal role as a counselor will be to provide better psychological advice and guidance to patients while i pursue my career in medicine. Along with majoring in biology, i am minoring in psychology so that i can better understand the mental health aspects of providing the best possible care for patients. As research progresses about psychological disorder etiology and treatment, public perception of people whom mental health issues impact will hopefully change and the patients will gain access to better support and care. Personally, being able to help ill people through my work will give me a strong sense of purpose for my career and allow me to become the best care-provider possible. If i do reach my goal of entering a medical career and chose a counseling profession, i believe becoming a psychiatrist would be the route that i would take.
